four pillars of migraine

Intense pain. Nausea and vomiting. Difficulty speaking. Aversion to light, sound and smell. Visual disturbances. These are some of the debilitating symptoms of migraines.

Often referred to as an invisible illness, people with migraines suffer in silence, severely inhibited by their inability to function and fight a seemingly endless battle.

Migraines are more prevalent than diabetes, epilepsy and asthma combined, according to The Migraine Trust.

It’s also the 6th most debilitating condition in the world, according to the World Health Organization and affects roughly three times as many women as men.

As doctors practicing functional neurology and specializing in the migraine condition, we want nothing more than for our patients to get better and experience optimal brain performance.

We also understand that a diagnosis only gets you so far. People suffering from migraines often come to us only after being seen by numerous doctors and specialists who suggest invasive treatments such as injections and prescriptions.

But why start there when you don’t have to?

At Oculus Brain Centers we offer patients, with some of the most challenging cases, an alternative approach to migraines consisting of brain-based and drug-free solutions to correct their neurological dysfunction.

Our primary focus is to identify areas of the brain that are dysfunctional and correct them, optimizing neurological function with the goal of reducing migraine frequency, intensity, and duration.

Guided by the most current research and state-of-the-art technology, we address four pillars of migraines: neurological, musculoskeletal, hormonal, and dietary aspects.

While migraines have one root cause, which is genetic, it has many triggers. These environmental factors include diet, stress and exercise, among others.

When helping migraine sufferers we recognize that while two patients can present with similar symptoms, they can have completely different neurological problems. That’s why we customize our care for migraine relief.

The level of evaluation, diagnostics and testing we do gives us the answers to which part of the brain and nervous system need our help. We’re trained to detect subtle changes in the nervous system, oftentimes detecting conditions early, before they become pathological.

Once the root cause and key brain areas have been identified, our clinicians use an individualized plan to achieve long-term improvements in building neurological integrity.

At Oculus Brain Centers, we truly listen to each patient’s account of what’s going on with their body because we want to hear first-hand what’s worked and what hasn’t.

For the past two years our practice has involved migraine patients almost exclusively, with the majority being women 35 to 50 years old.

At Oculus Brain Centers, we strive to get patients as well as possible, as quickly as possible, using non-invasive and integrative techniques.
